Zero Tolerance only applies to the children

In the fall of 1997, my son fell and hurt his arm while playing on the monkey bars during recess.  He was crying due to the pain so his teacher sent him to see Patti Bach, the school principal.  She gave him an ice pack and sent him back to class.

When I went to pick him up from school, his arm hurt so bad, he still crying and couldn't get into the truck with help.  I took him to see a the doctor and had his arm x-rayed.  It was broken.  I was treated like a criminal.  At first they didn't believe that my child could have broke his arm at school and they didn't get him any medical attention.

Even thought I was at home when the accident happened and could have easily been contacted, no one from the school even tried to call me.  When I complained to the principal about her not getting him medical attention, she only make excuses.  She never admitted that she had been wrong and never said she was sorry.

The Speedway School Corporation has decided to take the stance of Zero Tolerance.  Children are not allowed to have any moments of poor judgement or they will be expelled from school, yet when school officials show poor judgement, they are not even big enough to admit it.  And they never receive any penalties for their actions, or lack there of.
